I’ve heard mixed things about this place. Shane, our roommate, been here once a while back and since then he refuses to come back. Later we hear that it’s the shiz nit from some of our other friends. We decided to go see for ourselves.

The inside of this place is very spunky and festive. Servers are dressed in cholo style atire. Besides the decor it went with the whole theme of the restaurant.

Spinach And Cheese Enchiladas Verde served with black beans and rice, $12.25. I loved this dish. The spinach was fresh, not pre-made or soggy. The enchiladas were not dry and the cheese was hot and melted. I wasn’t too impressed with the rice, but the enchiladas were the main entree and what really mattered.

Fish Burrito, $12.75. It was ahi fish and I really wish I had taken a picture of the inside for you guys to see. Ray said the beans tasted like they came out of a can but he loved the burrito.

Margaritas made with Patron tequilla. Yum. Mexican food is just so much better with a good margarita, don’t you agree? I don’t remember the price, but I do remember that they were a little watery.

We drove back home with satisfied bellies. When we saw Shane we said, “man, I don’t know what your talking about, Cholos is good.”
When it comes to opinions, take them into consideration, but it’s always best to have one of your own and now I do. Cholos is good Mexican food, no where near the best, but it’s good. As far as cheap goes, I don’t think so but it’s affordable.

Internet and cafe, they’re just so perfect together, it had to be destiny. I think all cafe shops should offer free internet. Shane, Ray and I are all internet whores. There’s this cafe we go to called Metis and so far it’s the best internet cafe on the island. We’re totally open to trying other cafes, as long as there’s internet available. One day Ray and I grabbed our laptops and went out in search of new internet cafe. Where did we end up? Morning Brew in Kailua.

Ray ordered his usual cafe mokka, for $3.30. I couldn’t decide so of course I follow my infamous words of wisdom, “when in doubt order sugar,” and that’s exactly what I did. I ordered some brownie carmel thing. It was beautiful and would have made a decadent treat if Ray had shared with me. One thing about me is that not only do I love to eat and try other peoples food, but I also love to share my food. Hey sharing is caring and I fucking “Kea.” So when people don’t eat or even try my food, I get offended and butt hurt, like, “who the fuck do you think you are, think your better than me, better than my brownie, too good for your own good. Can’t even take a bite. Fuck you and your shitty cafe mocha. That thing probably has more calories and fat than my brownie anyway. Donkey dick,” At least that’s what I telepathically said to him, I think the message got lost somewhere in translation. My point is the brownie was too much, just over the top. After eating it all I felt like a fresh bag of shit.

Also there’s a full menu with prices that your wallet will be happy with, like a hummus bagel $3.25, organic large curry chicken salad $6.75 and Nachos $5.85.

Internet, cafe, and sugary goodness, together at last.

Just for the record, I’m really not a fan of Star Bucks, although, I don’t hate on them like a lot of people do; I guess you can say I am neutral. In San Francisco there’s always a bunch of small businesses that can’t stand them. Hell, they’ll even go as far as posting a sign out front that says something like, “No Corporate Cups”. Yeah, you can’t even bring an empty cup inside. Just looking at the Logo will make them shutter. My thing is, all corporate businesses had to start somewhere. And now that they dominate the coffee cafe market, they’re shunned by so many and yet still loved by even more. In my opinion, It’s the band wagoners that created this Star Bucks fiasco. At some place and time Star Bucks was a small timer and now, well there’s basically one at every corner and sometimes in between. I remember about a year ago when I lived in Oakland (Jack London Square) Ray, Chris (Ray’s best friend) and I had a bet and tried to guess how many Star Bucks are in San Francisco alone. I guessed 88. The answer, 77. Yep, 77 Star Bucks in San Francisco, there’s probably more now. Is that really necessary? I think not but I’m sure Star Bucks begs to differ. I do want to say that I hate Star Bucks for teaming up with T-Moble and charging for internet. It’s bull-shit! It’s not like they can’t afford to give it. I’m sure their fancy lawyers and accountants can figure out how to use it as a tax write off. You, see that’s the thing that bothers me, it’s like once a small timer makes it big it’s like they lose their spirit and humbleness. It just goes right out the window and now it’s all about the money. What I do like though, is that they’ve been doing something creative with their cups and letting their consumers write their opinions on everything and anything. Here’s one of my favorites

As an agnostic, I think that was pretty cool that they even put that there. Most places wouldn’t have the balls to shun God. Not because they’re afraid that God will punish them, but more like they’re scared that their profits will dwindle. I guess with enough money, your balls will grow. Anyhow, there you have it, my thoughts on Star Bucks.
