<p id="photoImgDiv1991338352" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I&#8217;m sure some of you have been to Ono Hawaiian Food so maybe one of you guys could tell me what the hell is really going on here. I mean every time I drive by during peak hours there&#8217;s this ridiculous line out the door. My sister came down from Los Angeles not too long ago so when she said she wanted some authentic Hawaiian food I was like, &#8220;sweet I know the perfect place, &#8221; so I think. The food has got to be pretty freaking spectacular if people are willing to wait in line out in the rain like it was the morning of black Friday or something.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991338352" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991338352" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2177/1991338352_a5424708a5.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991338352" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">We got there just before closing and the people that came a few minutes after us were denied entrance enough though the neon sign said open. As you can see from inside the place looks like a small hole in the wall. I felt like I walked right into someones scrapbook. The walls were covered with clutters of pictures, memories, old newspaper clippings, and random scraps that was obviously pieces of someones life but meant diddle lei squat to me.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991338352" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Service was below average. There&#8217;s Hawaiian service with aloha spirit and then there&#8217;s island service with an attitude. This was closer to island service. My sister, being a tourist and extremely picky, kept asking questions that are stupid to us but typical for tourist. &#8220;What is haupia? What&#8217;s laulau? What&#8217;s poi? How is it cooked? Do you guys use a lot of oil? Can you steam it?&#8221; I just kept telling myself that she&#8217;s your sister and a tourist, they don&#8217;t know any better but I could tell our waiter&#8217;s patience was wearing thin. Finally we decided upon the Combination Plate. Since it was a combo of a few of their signature items and the most expensive item on the menu, $14.75, I was certain that it would be a kick ass meal. The combination plate came with kalua pig and laulau, pipikaula, lomi salmon, haupia and rice.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991338352" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990550985" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2168/1990550985_e22983a2c4.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990550985" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Looks like a pile of shit.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991363460" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2346/1991363460_6531660db0.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991363460" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">This is your asshole . . .</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991366512" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2147/1991366512_affa97b2e3.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991366512" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">This is your asshole on drugs . . . it blows up. Any questions? I think laulau would have been much more effective then that stupid egg commercial they played year after year. Watching them fry it only made me hungry for a loco moco. Now kids don&#8217;t judge a book by its cover. Although the laulau here may look like someones asshole on drugs, it tastes real good. So go ahead and toss that salad. I did and I loved it. No really, this was probably the best thing in the combo plate. The meat was really tender with just enough fat for flavor. I think every tourist that comes here should get their hands on some real laulau before they leave so they know what they&#8217;re missing out on back in the mainland.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991366512" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991360116" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2015/1991360116_a5180de876.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991360116" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">This is the Lomi Salmon. If this dish looks small to you it&#8217;s because it is. All the food came in these small sauce dishes. The sad thing is the picture makes it look bigger than it really is. I took a close up so you guys can see what the food actually looks like. Maybe I just didn&#8217;t know how to eat it because It seemed like I was just eating salsa. It was bits of salmon and tons of tomatoes.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991360116" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991355964" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2206/1991355964_1407371c63.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991355964" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">This is the Kalua Pig. Like the laulau it was tender, moist, and just overall really good. It wasn&#8217;t too salty or too greasy.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991355964" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991351420" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2118/1991351420_2c6f25b996.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" />Along with our meal came some hot sauce. It was brought in the same sauce dishes as everything else so you guys have an idea of how small everything was.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991351420" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991344520" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2133/1991344520_527ce8075d.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991351420" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">This is the Pipikaula and no I didn&#8217;t eat any of it before I took a picture. It only came with two pieces of meat. Pipikaula can mean anything from cold beef jerky to slow smoked ribs. In this case it was cold beef jerky. And that&#8217;s exactly what it tasted like, cold jerky or left over scraps of someones food from two weeks ago left in a to go box in the back of a refrigerator for stupid tourists. It was weird to eat beef jerky for dinner, but fuck it. All I&#8217;m saying is next time I get invited to a pot luck my ass is bringing a bag of beef jerky. &#8220;What, you guys don&#8217;t know about beef jerky for dinner, man you guys gotta get out more. Hawaiians do it all the time, it&#8217;s tradition.&#8221;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991351420" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990539431" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2107/1990539431_22d31728f5.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990539431" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">And this is sliced onions. I&#8217;m not trying to be ignorant but I am clueless. The more I looked at my dinner the more it seemed like left over scraps. Onions for dinner? I don&#8217;t get it. Am I suppose to eat it with the laulau? Put hot sauce over it and eat it with the beef jerky? Or maybe, just maybe it&#8217;s plan B for a really bad date. &#8220;Oh sorry, I would love to kiss you but I just had a dish of raw onions but thanks for dinner and don&#8217;t call me I&#8217;ll call you.&#8221; That has to be it.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990539431" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991340202" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2294/1991340202_a14ca87728.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991340202" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">And the last of the Combination Plate was the haupia. It was mushy. I&#8217;ve had better.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991340202" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991349218" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2362/1991349218_5e323bd01c.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" />Along with our Combination Plate Selena ordered a side of Kim Chee, $1.80.  It was good.  I love homemade kim chee.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991349218" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990544413" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2315/1990544413_1e10968b0e.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990544413" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Selena also ordered a side of Plain Butterfish (Boiled), $5.25. This was the biggest disappointment for my sister. She kept going on and on about how this tasted exactly like moms fish and how mom would go to the grocery store buy a whole fish and make it exactly like this and it cost less than $5.00 and have enough for two days. I have to agree, $5.25 for a few pieces of cheap fish is absurd to me. The fish was good but I will probably never order this again and my mom makes it so much better.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990544413" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990544413" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Like I said, I just don&#8217;t get it. This place was on my list of places that I had to try just because of the crazy lines that formed out the door. It&#8217;s sad but it seems as though every time I go to one of these long ass lines out the door places I end up being hugely disappointed. This place was no different.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991360116" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>

<p class="Photo">&#8220;Big Boy makes you say ohhh boy!!!&#8221; Well not really, but that&#8217;s their catchy slogan. The first Big Boy started in 1936 by Bob Wian in Glendale California. Today there are over 455 Big Boys Restaurants throughout the United States and Canada. If hamburgers and diners with an unconventional flare humbles you then Bobs Big Boy might be the place to rekindle old memories.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538869416" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2337/1538869416_833f58c0f3.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538869416" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">The place is a total diner inside. I like the big overhead lighting and the big windows that let in an ample supply of natural light.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538869416" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538851954" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2208/1538851954_e8de0eeaa9.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538851954" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I started out with a small green salad. It came with one slice of tomato and one cucumber slice, the rest was Romain Lettuce. Not to mention, it was the top part of the tomato, so I had to cut around it just to eat it. I substituted the fries that came with my sandwich for this salad.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538851954" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538865960" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2064/1538865960_02482865d5.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538865960" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I ordered the Mushroom Melt, $8.95. It came with portobello mushrooms, peppers and melted swiss cheese all on toasted, sliced bread. Oh, also, it was flavored with a marinara sauce. I was happy with this dish but I think it would of tasted so much better with a different type of bread. This boring white sandwich bread wasn&#8217;t doing it for me.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538865960" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538856100" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2026/1538856100_c1ad2d2560.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538856100" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Shane ordered the French Dip, $8.25. It came with lean sliced roast beef on a hoagie bun and served with au jus. All sandwiches came with fries. Shane said it was, &#8220;one of the boriest sandwiches he has ever encounterd.&#8221; The size of the sandwich was a little disappointing and the taste had no wow factor. It would have made a good snack if made at home but not a meal. I didn&#8217;t taste it, but it did look pretty boring.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538862770" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2071/1538862770_66b80402eb.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538862770" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">His sandwich also came with toast.   I don&#8217;t get it, who wants to eat bread after a sandwich?</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538856100" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538856100" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538859656" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2053/1538859656_d121098310.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538859656" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Country Fried Steak and Eggs, $9.49. Ray couldn&#8217;t have been happier with this dish. I tried it and yes it was awesome. The gravy was perfect and the country fried steak was fried to perfection and the hash browns were golden and crispy. I liked his dish more than mine but refrain from taking too many bites because he liked it so much.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1538859656" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> Overall, I hate to say it, but this place was good enough, definitely better than what I expected. As most of you already know, I&#8217;m not a fan of diners. To me, they scream cheap, poor quality food for people that don&#8217;t know any better or don&#8217;t care but this place proved me wrong. Oh, Boy! But just so you know, service sucks.</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1511096822" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Ray&#8217;s been tired of hearing me bitch about not eating enough Vietnamese so today he took me to Pho Pearl so I could get my pho fix. The truth of the matter is, since I&#8217;ve moved away from my parents my pho consumption has reached an all time low. I&#8217;m ashamed to admit it and my mother says it&#8217;s because I have no honor. My mom, she blames everything on honor. I try to explain, &#8220;no mom, I have honor, it&#8217;s money, I have no money.&#8221;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511096822" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1510205977" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2409/1510205977_e9f5e82255.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1510205977" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Here&#8217;s what it looks like on the inside.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511096822" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511096822" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511068728" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2098/1511068728_47f54c9ce9.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511068728" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">We started off with these Summer Rolls, $4.25. These tasted really fresh, like you knew for certain they were just made and brought right to the table to be consumed. I made a request to have one shrimp roll and one pork roll to switch it up a bit. It wasn&#8217;t a problem and ended up being a really good call. Both were equally as scrumptious. Oh, also, the peanut sauce here is up there as one of the best peanut sauces I&#8217;ve ever tasted, truly.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511068728" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1510221305" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2210/1510221305_47762eab8c.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1510221305" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I came here for pho so I made it a point not to go over the menu too much. I didn&#8217;t want to be deterred. What I love about pho is that it always comes in this ginormous bowl. One bowl is always enough for two. I got the Pho @ Beef Meatball, $6.95. Pho is generally topped with finely chopped white and green onions for optimal flavor.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511084358" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2032/1511084358_7c2e130734.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511084358" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Also, no pho would ever be able to live up to it&#8217;s full potential if it was not accommodated with all the fixings. A dish of limes, in this case lemons, but limes make it so much better. It&#8217;s like having a corona with a lime or lemon? Lime just adds better flavor than lemon. Anyhow, like I was saying, a dish of lemons, bean sprouts, slices up raw jalapenos, basil, and mint made a suitable pho partner in crime.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511084358" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511073144" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2043/1511073144_a75e7c78b8.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1511073144" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Crispy Fried Egg Noodle with Seafood, $8.50. The flavor of this dish was a winner. I thought it was slightly too salty but I&#8217;m weird and sensitive to sodium, but like I said, it was extremely tasty. Ray goes, &#8220;the sauce on this is so good I actually want to eat my vegetables.&#8221; As for the noodles, they were under-fried. Crispy noodles were a specialty at my family restaurant so I know one key to making a good crispy noodle is the crisp part. The noodles were just fried but not enough, so it tasted a little stale or Styrofoamy. Just a couple more minutes in the deep fryer would have completely transformed this dish.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1510221305" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Anyhow, when we got here, the host/waitress/chef/busser; basically there was one lady there and she was a one woman army, since her husband had just stepped out for a few minutes. She was overly apologetic and would apologize for everything. She apologized for us waiting to be sat, she apologized for her husband being gone, for us waiting for food, for anything she could do to make it better, for her husband being gone again, for how the food turned out, for bringing us the bill. Also, when she did bring us the bill, she was so sorry that she gave us a 10% discount. The point is she apologized for everything that went right. Isn&#8217;t it the basic procedure to wait to be sat, order, wait, eat and pay when you go out to eat? The only thing that was out of the norm was her passive attitude. As a matter of fact, we waited less than a minute to be sat, and wait time for the food was about 10 minutes. Normal right? Whatever I wasn&#8217;t going to fight the discount. Sure, I&#8217;ll take 10% off. I&#8217;ll take it as payment of all the unnecessary times I had to say, &#8220;it&#8217;s o.k,&#8221; or &#8220;everything&#8217;s fine.&#8221; All I&#8217;m saying is, next time, I go there and I see her husband, I&#8217;m expecting the royal celebrity treatment. I want a red carpet, candles, fireworks, the whole shabang.</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1324564816" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> I have this mental list of places that I must try just because every time I drive by there&#8217;s this crazy line out the door. It&#8217;s just one of those things were I need to know what all the fuss is about. Ray says that he&#8217;s been to Wailana a few years back and that I would love the prices but hate the food. I was sold on the cheap price part and as for the food, I&#8217;ll be the judge of that.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324564816" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324572952" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1184/1324572952_9cae92e75d.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324572952" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">We came here one day and I was like sweet, no line. Usually, when we drive by there&#8217;s this ridiculous line out the door. However, this is what we walked into. Apparently, the line ended at the door so we had to squeeze in and stand to the side.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324572952" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323689299" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1335/1323689299_32309fef3a.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323689299" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">The place is a lot bigger once inside and is even bigger than the room you see here. Once you get to the end of this room, you walk in through the open way and there&#8217;s a whole other room, which is where we were seated.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323697457" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1203/1323697457_508fa075ee.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323697457" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">This is the same room, but just to the right of it.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323697457" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1324596292" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> The glass is half full because Ray was thirsty and impatient. This puny glass of chocolate milk cost us $1.85. It was like two big gulps. Rip off.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324596292" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324602950" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1371/1324602950_b09bc5540d.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324602950" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Ray ordered Strawberry Waffle with Whipped Cream, $6.60. As you can see this is what a real waffle should look like. Not like the weak waffles from<a href="http://www.cheapplacestoeatinoahuhawaii.com/foodblog/2007/09/21/eggsn-things/"> Eggs and Things</a>. Ray was happy with his pick and so was I, since I took several bites of it throughout our meal.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324624098" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1374/1324624098_dcccc45b89.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324624098" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">He also ordered one Egg, $2.35. They were scrambled and not layered like how some restaurants make them. They were good eggs.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323717719" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1401/1323717719_f4ab06c681.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323717719" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Shane got French Toast, $6.95. These were good but not amazing, just really basic tasting French toast.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323724977" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1190/1323724977_c0c95b8348.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323724977" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323738161" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1299/1323738161_3e7093a546.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323738161" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I ordered the Pancake Sandwich, $6.35. It was sausage, bacon or ham and one egg with two buttermilk pancakes. As you can see I chose sausage and had my eggs done over hard. Again, everything was good. I put my egg between my pancakes and sliced up my sausage and places each slice ever so gently between each pancake as well so it was like pigs and dead chicken babies in a blanket. Yum!</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323738161" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> Overall, we were all quite content with our order. As for the prices, I have to say we were disappointed. Ray and Shane have been here before so they were able to compare prices from the last time they were here and the whole time they were deciding on what to eat all they kept saying was, &#8220;wow, the prices went up.&#8221; I know it sounds like I&#8217;m being a little too hard since the prices were decent, but I had been so pumped up on how cheap this place was. I was expecting like $3.99 plates you know. Apparently, that&#8217;s what they&#8217;re known for, that and being open till the wee hours of the night. How can you not appreciate places that are so accommodating to the drunks. Like ugly people, food always looks and taste better when drunk. It&#8217;s funny because I mention it to my coworkers that I had made a visit here one morning and Sara goes, &#8220;oh, you should never go there unless your drunk.&#8221; And then Brian concurs by saying, &#8220;yeah, don&#8217;t go there unless your ready to have some drunken food. Food is so good there when your drunk.&#8221; There you have it folks, don&#8217;t come here unless your drunk. That was one mistake we wont make again.</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1434320769" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Oh the joys of another great find. It&#8217;s like finding a $20. in the pocket of an old pair of jeans. I&#8217;m a sucker for Thai food. It&#8217;s right up there with Indian and Vietnamese, so you can imagine my delight when I land upon a small Thai restaurant that is nice to my wallet and best buds with my taste buds.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1434320769" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435170710" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1173/1435170710_47026231cc.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435170710" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">So we walk into this place and it&#8217;s really long and narrow. Most of the seating is for two, as you can see, so don&#8217;t plan on having company parties here or anything. This place was quaint, charming, clean and fresh.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435170710" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1434302903" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1089/1434302903_d921b7af17.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1434302903" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">We started our meal off with these Summer Roll, $3.50. No that is not a miss print, they were really $3.50. So far, that&#8217;s the cheapest I&#8217;ve found on this island. As for taste, they were amazing. Just staring at the pictures now bring back fond memories of me eating them.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1434302903" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435177872" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1146/1435177872_5221fc29e8.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435177872" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Next we have Spring Rolls, $5.95 for five rolls. Spring rolls are always a good choice. These crispy rice paper wrapped around ground pork and mixed vegetables. Plus, it came with a dipping sauce and garnish that you could actually eat. So after we were done I shredded greens and made a very tasty salad.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435177872" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435181646" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1313/1435181646_dfe461fc23.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435181646" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> Up next we have Laab Beef Salad, $7.95 mixed with lime juice, rice flour, mint, parsley and onions served with cucumbers and cabbage. If your one of those people that love meat and not a lot of veggies, this is the salad Mother Nature intended for you. It had more meat than greens. For me it was slightly too salty, but I think for most it would be perfect. Besides that it was perfect in flavor, color, presentation, portion and price.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435181646" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435184364" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1412/1435184364_4d7580b84c.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435184364" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Another dish that is always a good choice is Curry Chicken, $6.95. I suggest the yellow curry like the one you see in the picture. This was chicken, sauteed with chili, coconut mild, potato and carrots. If you wanted shrimp it was only $1.00 more. One dollar more, for shrimp, I love it. I don&#8217;t recall if the rice came with it or not, but if it didn&#8217;t, I don&#8217;t reckon it would of cost more than $1.00. And yes I did say &#8220;reckon,&#8221; and no I&#8217;m not a hick or from Texas. Back to the curry, it was out of this world good. In my opinion you can always judge a good Thai Restaurant by it&#8217;s curry. If the curry is good, then chances are everything else will be good.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435184364" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435187682" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1144/1435187682_a416d6cdd2.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435187682" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken, $6.95, stir-fried with rice, egg, peas, carrots, pineapple and cashew nuts. I was really surprised at how good this fried rice was. The cashews was a nice surprised and the pineapple was fresh, not the can stuff. Everything just worked well together. One of the tastiest fried rice I&#8217;ve had in a while.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435187682" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">There you have it, another great find. I love this place and will most definitely be back. As for the dessert, they do have it and by the time we had finished our lunch we had no room for dessert. This is yet another reason to order dessert as an appetizer, that way there will always be room.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435187682" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1435196198" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Wahoo&#8217;s started as a California restaurant franchise in 1988. Today there&#8217;s a total of 40 throughout California and Colorado and one in Hawaii with Hawaii being the top in sales. This surf style chain integrates Mexican, Brazilian, and Asian into their menu. In my opinion, I don&#8217;t notice any Asian flavors. It&#8217;s ran like a fast food joint, (you order up front, pay and find a place to eat) but unlike a fast food joint, they serve alcohol, customer service is so friendly it&#8217;s a little spooky, and tipping is optional. There&#8217;s a lot of things I like about this place but for some reason, I don&#8217;t gravitate towards it. We&#8217;ve been here a few times because Ray&#8217;s a fan. Here&#8217;s what he&#8217;s been ordering.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1435196198" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1349772380" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1028/1349772380_22d85180da.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1349772380" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Ray always orders this Outer Reef Burrito, flour tortilla, stuffed with rice, shredded jack and cheddar cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, salsa, and your choice of beans, black or white. I want to say it cost around $9.00. I don&#8217;t remember the exact price, but I do remember that it wasn&#8217;t cheap for a fast food establishment.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1348875207" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1231/1348875207_9ae32440af.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1348875207" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> He ordered this one with black beans and fish.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1348875207" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="Photo"> 	    		<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/doanne808/1444464371/"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1007/1444464371_e1338c9e04.jpg" alt="CIMG1827.JPG" height="375" width="500" /></a></p>
<p class="Photo">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="Photo"> 	    		<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/doanne808/1444458143/"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1089/1444458143_88357508ea.jpg" alt="CIMG1829.JPG" height="375" width="500" /></a></p>
<p class="Photo">This one is the same burrito but with black beans and carne asada.</p>
<p class="Photo">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="Photo"> 	    		<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/doanne808/1445331116/"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1047/1445331116_115ec6b676.jpg" alt="CIMG2599.JPG" height="375" width="500" /></a></p>
<p class="Photo">This is the same order, different day.</p>
<p class="Photo"> As you can see, we&#8217;ve been here quite a few times. Everything taste fresh and the portions are huge so it makes up for the extra cost. Like I said, I&#8217;m not a huge fan of this place. I always ask Ray for a bite of his burrito and that&#8217;s enough to fill my fix. Just like <a href="http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_kine_grindz/2006/01/wahoos_fish_tac.html">Reid</a>, I&#8217;d rather go to Diegos or a new place that&#8217;s a little more authentic and cheaper. So when we do come here I make a walk to <a href="http://www.cheapplacestoeatinoahuhawaii.com/foodblog/2007/09/14/bale-sandwich-vietnamese-food/">Ba Le</a> for a Vietnamese sandwich and enjoy it at Wahoo&#8217;s where Ray enjoys an Outer Reef Burrito.</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1409582032" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Once we were sat inside, I was quite impressed with the nice clean finish on the inside and it was a little bigger than what I had expected it to be just by looking from the outside. Their menus are on a wooden board, English on one side and Japanese on the other.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409582032" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1409586372" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Sara got the Blueberry Waffle, $7.50. This was really good, but not really what I expected their waffles to be like. I saw big thick waffles in my head you know. This place is know for having ginormous dishes. Come on guys, step up your game.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409586372" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408709281" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1153/1408709281_f5b47c0461.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408709281" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Shane got the Coconut Waffle. He loved it and could not have been happier. Oh, Shane, such a stoic, easy to please man.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409608368" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1439/1409608368_cc2e3375e7.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p>Ray got the Banana Waffles, $7.50. He said they were great, but soon regret his order when he laid eyes upon Justin&#8217;s plate.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408723143" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1387/1408723143_c381dce077.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408723143" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I took this picture to show just how thin this waffles were, thinner than pancakes. The bananas tasted really fresh and were bounteous. Now don&#8217;t get me wrong, everyone loved them, but some people have preferences. If you prefer thin waffles you should fucking come here if you don&#8217;t order something else.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408723143" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409601114" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1368/1409601114_f15d72eed5.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409601114" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Since everyone else got waffles I decided to go with crepes, that way I could take a little bit of waffle from everyone else and still have my crepe. Lesson #1, think like a fatty, just don&#8217;t look like one. The great thing about crepes is that you don&#8217;t really get any surprises with them, they&#8217;re thin pancakes, they will always be thin, if they come out thick, someone fucked up and you got pancakes instead. I ordered the Strawberry Rolled Crepe, $8.95. I love crepes, but as a lone ranger. Somehow every time I order them filled I end up being disappointed. This time was no different. The menu said they were, &#8220;delicate thin pancakes.&#8221; I should of taken that to heart because, delicate they were. By the time I got to my second crepe, it started to crumble and deteriorate. It literally dissolved into such small pieces that it made eating with a fork a skill. Let this be a lesson to me.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409601114" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409594104" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1048/1409594104_ae47264117.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1409594104" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Justin got the Potato, Bacon and Cheese Omelet, $10.75. All omelette&#8217;s are made with three fresh eggs and come with pancakes, rice or potatoes. As soon as Ray laid his eyes upon Justin&#8217;s dish he knew he had ordered the wrong dish. Then he tasted it and it only confirmed that this dish should belong to him. Justin said, &#8220;ten out of ten, I give this dish a ten, it couldn&#8217;t have been better.&#8221;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408716133" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1356/1408716133_57ac7ccee8.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408716133" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">These are they pancakes that it came with. For $10.75 this dish could easily be shared by two. There you have it, guys. That&#8217;s their secret, fantastic omelette&#8217;s.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1408716133" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>

<p class="Photo">Alright guys, it&#8217;s story time. So just as we&#8217;re finishing up with our breakfast I notice the this ginormous milkshake the waitress has in her hand. My eyes are fixed on her as she walks right next to my table and hands it to this cute Japanese girl. All of them do the cute, little Japanese giggle. Ray tells me to stop staring, but I can&#8217;t, I&#8217;m memorized. &#8220;Fuck you, mind your own business,&#8221; I say and then I turn to the cute Japanese, smile, and nod my camera to her, which is code for, &#8220;may I take your picture?&#8221; She nods, I gesture for her to pick up the milkshake, she willingly obliges. Japanese girls are so adorable.</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1324465256" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Happy Anniversary!!! It&#8217;s our two year anniversary. I met Ray back in San Francisco two years ago. My best friend in high school, Jackie, moved to Texas and there she met Ray. Years later Jackie happen to be in San Francisco. San Francisco was an hour from where I lived so I hopped in the car to go see her. She introduces me to Ray and it&#8217;s been love ever since. That was two years ago. We got engaged back in February but we like to celebrate our anniversary on the day we met, because for us, that was the first day of our lives together. Awe, how adorable. Go ahead and throw up, I&#8217;m not going anywhere.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324465256" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324471186" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1145/1324471186_986be0a0c1.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324465256" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> So on our two year anniversary Ray takes me to Haleiwa Joe&#8217;s. He was really bummed out because he wanted to take me to the Haleiwa Joes in Kaneohe but the Pali was closed that night. So he calls his friend, Beau, who is in front of his computer 24/7, for detour directions. His friend gives him directions to the Haleiwa Joe&#8217;s in Haleiwa not aware that Ray wanted to take me to the other one. We got here really late and decide to stay. Ray&#8217;s still bummed because he says the other one is just that much better. I have yet to find out.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324465256" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">We sat outside where the moonlight and fire from the candles gave the room and very romantic glow. There&#8217;s nice seating available inside as well.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324465256" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323544719" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1203/1323544719_b249b862f5.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323544719" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">We started off with the Ahi Spring Rolls, $9.95. These were amazing. The thin layer of wonton skin gave this dish the perfect amount of crispiness that cracked in your mouth with every bite announcing to every taste bud, &#8221; hey guys, it&#8217;s time to eat. Trust me, you want to be awake for this.&#8221; Ohhh yum.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1323544719" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324444462" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1136/1324444462_97b74485c9.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324444462" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I&#8217;m a sucker for nuts and fruit on my salad so when I saw the Haleiwa Paradise Salad, $7.95 I knew I found the one. This was perfect, especially since we just had the Ahi Spring Roll, so I was already getting pretty full. The salad was mixed in a subtle sweet orange ginger vinaigrette that really enhanced the sweet candied walnuts and the mandarin oranges. Everything tasted really fresh.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324444462" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324452550" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1035/1324452550_a175f46360.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324452550" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Prime Rib, market price. The market price on August 25 was a whopping $32.00. Yeah, I know this should not be allowed any where near this food blog, but it was our anniversary so you can have anything you want baby.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324458924" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1193/1324458924_c28eb87f1c.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /><br />
He ordered it medium well. He said it had a nice thickness to it that made his mouth water just at the shear sight of it. The meat was juicy and so tender that his molars felt as if they were given a vacation every time they soaked into the meat. I, on the other hand, cringe at the sight of blood. The only thing I eat raw is fish. The mash potatoes were amazing but the peas were a little undercooked.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1324458924" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Haleiwa Joes isn&#8217;t the cheapest place to dine but there will come a time when it&#8217;s worth it to spend a little extra cash for a nice meal.</p>

The first time I went to this place was with my long time friend from high school, Trinity. We came here with her son who is also my God child to catch up. I didn&#8217;t really pay attention to the food since I didn&#8217;t have a food blog back then. All I know is that it didn&#8217;t leave a lasting impression on me. Big City Diner is a local chain that gets pretty good reviews. I was a little shocked so I decided to give them another try.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1220423701" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1221279142" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1006/1221279142_20ac27ada0.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" />Shane got a short stack of pancakes, $3.79. Everyone is different when it comes to pancakes and I&#8217;m starting with this line because I know a lot of people are not going to agree with me on this, but I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s anything special about these pancakes. But like I said everyone is different when it comes to pancakes. Some like it fluffy, soggy, spongy, doughy, you get my point. These were a little on the doughy side. Shane thought they were a little undercooked. Ray however, liked these pancakes. He thought the doughiness gave them a subtle sweetness.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1221279142" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1221272696" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1176/1221272696_1ba05491b6.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /><br />
I got the The Really Loco, Loco Moco, $6.99. I haven&#8217;t had a loco moco yet, so I thought what better place to have a popular Hawaiian platter than at a popular Hawaiian diner? For those of you who aren&#8217;t aware of what a loco moco is, it&#8217;s white rice topped with a hamburger patty, sauteed onions, covered with gravy and then topped with an egg, cooked the way you like. Again, not impressed. When it comes to this dish, I think the flavor of the gravy will make it or brake it, since every bite will be smothered in gravy. In this case it broke it. The gravy tasted cheap, like the poor quality packaged gravy where all you do is add hot water. I say poor quality packaged kind because there are some packages that are pretty darn good. It seemed as if I didn&#8217;t eat this fast enough, it would start to solidify and get clumpy.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1220403189" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1199/1220403189_b5374b512e.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /><br />
Here&#8217;s what it looked like half way through. Excuse the pepper. Some do salt, I do pepper. Notice the gravy to the side starting to get a little clumpy.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1220403189" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1221259014" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1274/1221259014_550f63173a.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /><br />
Ray ordered a side egg, scrambled, with his dish, $1.09. Really not much to say, it&#8217;s an egg.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1221259014" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1221252854" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1045/1221252854_23fcc91541.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /><br />
This was Ray&#8217;s dish, Grilled Oatmeal Cakes, $7.49. Boy, I tell you Ray must of had a wild hair tickling his ass this day because he&#8217;s rarely this healthy. It&#8217;s suppose to be topped with honey and come with fruit. Now unless they cook the honey in with it because there was no honey to be found. Also the fruit was melons and a pineapple garnish. In all honesty, these cakes surprised me. I think I ended up liking them more than Ray did.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1220376129" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1401/1220376129_2f69680923.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="333" width="500" /><br />
It also came with a side of toast.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1220376129" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> The best part of eating here is being able to check it off the list and moving on to bigger and better things. Sorry if it sounds like I&#8217;m bashing them, I&#8217;m not. It just didn&#8217;t do anything for me, but that doesn&#8217;t mean it was bad. I think the oak cakes actually being good was the highlight of this meal. I didn&#8217;t come in with high expectations because, well, it&#8217;s a diner. In my professional opinion, Big City Diner is a Hawaiian version of IHOP.</p>

From my experience, the closer to the college means the cheaper the food. This place had good service, nice atmosphere and fair prices with hefty portions. Gyro sandwiches were $5.96, the most expensive salad was $6.95, appetizers were affordable and didn&#8217;t go over $6.00. I ordered hommos, for $4.95 and that&#8217;s the way it was spelled on the menu. I&#8217;ve always seen it spelled hummus but hommos is a little more entertaining to say. It was a little oily but still delicious and came with a pita bread cut into four pieces. The pita bread was good but was hot like it was microwaved rather than hot like it was fresh. There wasn&#8217;t enough bread and we had to order more for .75 cents. I didn&#8217;t mind because they really gave generous portions of hommos. Yes, hommos is definitely more amusing to say, even if it is pronounce hummus. I prefer homos. The hommos was fantastic but a bit greasy. There&#8217;s just so much hommos, don&#8217;t you think? Alright, let us move on.</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv692642867" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I also ordered a Mixed Plate. It was a nice variety of gyros beef and lamb topped with Tzatzif, (I don&#8217;t know what that is either), along with marinated boneless chicken baked in slow fire, and topped with a garlic mayo sauce, served with a Greek salad and pita bread. All for the special price of $10.95. Ray and I shared it and it was more than plenty. Everything was scrumptious. I definitely will be back.</p>

I&#8217;m a sugar whore. I will never deny myself of her sweet, sweet love. Actually, if you ask me, sugar is a great substitute for love. In desperate need to get laid? Save yourself an STD and bake yourself a cake instead sweetheart. Go ahead, get kinky, no ones watching. Bust out the whip cream, cherries and nuts. Oh you wild animal you. Alright you sick bastard, that&#8217;s enough, back to business. Ted&#8217;s Bakery is in North Shore and it&#8217;s a winner in my book. I came here after lunch specifically for a slice of cake and that is exactly what I got.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv527593021" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1156/527593021_f5899632f4.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv527593021" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> I ordered a haupia cream cake and it was amazing. The cake was moist, and the cream wasn&#8217;t too sweet. It was a special kind of goodness in my mouth. A hefty slice cost me around $2.75. Since it was a typical gorgeous day here on the island of Oahu, I chose to enjoy my cake outside. Whoever said, &#8220;you can&#8217;t have your cake and eat it too,&#8221; was stupid.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv527592009" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">   <img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1115/527592009_05898fe3a5.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv527593021" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Ted&#8217;s Bakery might specialize in cake, but they also have a full menu as well. I didn&#8217;t get to try any of it so I can&#8217;t give you my two cents. But I did take a menu home and when It comes to cheap, this place passes right through. Breakfast sandwiches were $3.15 &#8211; $4.25. Breakfast plates ranged from $4.50 &#8211; $6.50. Hot sandwiches were between $3.50 &#8211; $6.25 and plate lunches were $6.35 &#8211; $8.75. I&#8217;m definitely a fan.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv527593021" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv527593021" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Like I said I &#8216;m a fan, so it should come to no surprise that I made another trip to Ted&#8217;s Bakery.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990736463" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2050/1990736463_0222c5f8e7.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990736463" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">There&#8217;s some nice seating right outside but it was a little wet today so I decided to take my dessert to go and ate it in my car.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991546570" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2101/1991546570_dd2d7054f7.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991546570" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> Now as soon as I laid my eyes upon it I knew it was destiny.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990724249" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2290/1990724249_6cf61b9ae6.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990724249" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> It&#8217;s called Pineapple macadamia nut cheesecake, $3.41, but I would of named it something else, since the base of the cake is carrot cake.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990753189" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2039/1990753189_2e5bc2a250.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990753189" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> But who gives a shit what it&#8217;s called it was magnificent. Carrot cake, cheesecake, pineapple and macadamia nut, what a great orgy of a dessert. The cake was moist, the cheese was creamy and the thin layer of pineapple on top was sweet, however I didn&#8217;t see or really taste much of any macadamia nuts.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990753189" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>

<p id="photoImgDiv1991551350" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I have to say the amount they give is perfect, not too much and not too little. Here take a closer look.</p>

<p>This is my new favorite place to go to in North Shore. It&#8217;s called the Grass Skirt. The only thing that they need improvement on is the service, but other than that everything is spectacular. I love the ambiance, decor, location and, most importantly, the food.</p>
<p><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1186/539037709_fdcd25be4f.jpg" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p>The Grass Skirt is a petite yet inviting place. The walls are polished with a chic, stylish, Hawaiian attitude. The menu is printed on a surf board and hung from the ceiling. We ordered, paid, then grabbed a table and waited. There&#8217;s a few tables inside, chairs next to a counter and more tables set up outside as well.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538902628" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1335/538902628_78944f0321.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538902628" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538902628" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork. I ordered this plate the last time I was here and I don&#8217;t usually order the same thing twice, but Oh My God. I do make exceptions when the food was really, really cheap or really really good. In this case the food was really, really a gift from the Heavens above. The BBQ Pulled Pork is roasted and shredded mixed with a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. It was $8.95. They were generous with their portions so $8.95 is totally worth it. I ended up taking half of this home.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538917564" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1211/538917564_27c2b70273.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538902628" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538902628" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> This is the Grilled Ahi. It&#8217;s an 8 oz Ahi fillet grilled and topped with basil and lemon butter for $10.95. Not only do they give heaping portions, but you gotta admit the presentation is flawless, especially for being served on a paper plate. Ray has a healthy appetite and he was only able to eat 2/3 of his plate. We left the rest because he&#8217;s not a fan of left overs and I&#8217;m not a fan of left over seafood.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv539025519" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1192/539025519_d29f810267.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv539025519" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv539025519" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Shane couldn&#8217;t decide so he got two things. This Hot Dog was 1/4 lbs and cost $2.95. They split the weinner in half, grilled it and squeezed ketchep and mustard in the middle. I&#8217;ve never seen it serve this way and thought it was kinda different and cool. I asked him if it was better than <a href="http://www.cheapplacestoeatinoahuhawaii.com/foodblog/2007/05/22/costco-hotdogs/">Costco&#8217;s Hot Dog.</a> The look on his face said, &#8220;by far.&#8221; Sorry Costco but there&#8217;s a new dog in town.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv539027819" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1032/539027819_241deeb99c.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv539027819" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv539027819" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">In addition to his hot dog Shane also got a Pulled Pork Sandwich. It was served with lettuce, tomato and onions for $6.95. Shane ate everything and we left totally blissed out of our minds. What a great find.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538912734" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1360/538912734_ec7906f663.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538912734" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">My only complaint was that there was no dessert on the menu.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv538912734" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"> Since this last post Grass Skirt Grill has become one of my favorite spots to visit. My little sister came over on vacation a couple weeks ago and of course I had to take her here.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990698531" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2266/1990698531_e1d3c613ab.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990698531" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Here she is, doesn&#8217;t she look excited to eat!</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990698531" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">&nbsp;</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990715043" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2175/1990715043_4a82ce571b.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1990715043" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">My sister, Selena, is one of those extremely picky and healthy eaters. It&#8217;s almost to the point where going out to eat could be a bit of a nuisance because she always orders everything on the side, and substitutes this for that and did I mention she makes her own lemonade at the table, not because she&#8217;s cheap, but because she prefers the fake sugar at the table and not the real stuff. Anyway, we decided to share the Grilled Fish Salad, $12.95. Selena orders the dressing on the side just in case she doesn&#8217;t like it. When she goes to the counter to pick up our salad it was covered in papaya dressing. Selena goes, &#8220;oh, I ordered the dressing on the side.&#8221; And the stupid bitch behind the counter goes, &#8220;oh, well, there&#8217;s not much of it, you&#8217;ll be alright.&#8221; Selena comes back to the table upset and disappointed.</p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991513096" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2405/1991513096_4a384e920f.jpg?v=0" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" height="375" width="500" /></p>
<p id="photoImgDiv1991513096" style="width: 502px" class="photoImgDiv">Now does this look like a little dressing to anyone? There&#8217;s a pool of it gathering at the bottom of our plate. Now, it really didn&#8217;t bother me, since I know I like the dressing, and it turns out Selena did too, but had it been me that picked up the salad and that bitch would of said that to me I would of said, &#8220;well, I&#8217;m allergic to papaya dressing so I won&#8217;t be o.k. Will you guys be o.k. with a lawsuit on your hands?&#8221; Point is, it&#8217;s not cool to be talked down to, especially when your a loyal customer. Wow, this place really sucks bad when it comes to customer service. All I know is that next time I make it out this far to get some food, it wont be at the Grass Skirt Grill. But just to be completely honest, the salad was really good.</p>
